VINCENT PATRICOLA B2B JESSE CORY– Movement Music Festival

VINCENT PATRICOLA B2B JESSE CORY

MONDAY | MAY 30

Jesse Cory has been a record collector and dj for over 20 years. After getting his first taste of Detroit’s underground music screen at mid 90’s raves he moved to New York in 1999 and held down a Sunday nice residence at Guernica in Alphabet City.

Digging for records at the legendary Dance Tracks and spending time at the Shelter and Body & Soul parties gave him the opportunity to learn the roots of disco and its transition to the Garage sound and House Music. In May of 2021 Jesse started the Peace, Love & House Thursday weekly at Spot Lite where he shares his passion for the origins of contemporary dance music.

Vincent Patricola (formerly DJ Shortround) has been passionately supporting Detroit’s music community for the last twenty-five years. It became a full time job when he founded Detroit Electronic Quarterly Magazine (DEQ) in 2005. It is currently a non-profit (DEQ Arts Organization) that includes a neighborhood beautification garden and project geared towards Detroit youth.

As a DJ, he is well known for soulful, eclectic vinyl DJ sets that move and groove a crowd with soulful styles ranging from world to jazz, from house to techno and classic hip hop. He plays events all around town and shares the stage with prominent DJs on a weekly basis.

Currently, he has multiple weekly DJ residencies: Thursday nights at Spotlite Detroit with Jesse Cory, Wednesday nights at 2DJs at Ima (Midtown) with rotating guest DJs and Sunday afternoons at Stache International (Eastern Market.)

Patricola can be found during the day as a manager at Spot Lite, overseeing the record store within. He has worked at several record stores including Record Time Ferndale (2001-08) and Dope Jams (NYC 2008-11.)
