One of house music’s first superstars, Detroit native MK (real name Marc Kinchen) is a record producer, DJ and remixer who boasts over 500 million global records across his esteemed career.
He first rose to prominence in the early 90s when hits such as ‘Burnin’ and ‘Always’, as well as records like ‘4You’ (written under his alter-ego 4th Measure Men), became some of the most influential house songs of the era - remaining just as revered today. Then came his iconic remix of ‘Push The Feeling On’, a seminal house classic that has been sampled and reworked countless times since its original inception - championed in Pitbull's global hit ‘Hotel Room Service’ and AJ Tracey's grime smash ‘Dinner Guest’ to name a few.
A prolific and versatile producer, MK has written songs for a long list of globally renowned artists, including Mary J Blige, Pitbull, Snoop Dogg and Beyonce. He also co-produced the theme song for the film Men In Black 3 and worked as Will Smith's in-house producer for a number of years.
Fast-forward to 2013 and his rework of ‘Look Right Through’ by Storm Queen hit #1 in the UK singles chart. Refusing to rest on his laurels, he followed this up with ‘Pieces Of Me’, ‘17’ and ‘Back & Forth’, singles that all went platinum, amassing over 400 million combined Spotify streams and counting. Since then he has added a flurry of smash singles to his unrivalled discography including ‘There For You’, ‘One Night’ and ‘2AM’.
More recently, MK made a career-affirming appearance in the new Jaguar F-PACE advert, also overseeing the creation of the musical component of the campaign in what promises to be the first of many high-profile partnerships for the legendary producer. This was followed up with new single ‘Chemical’, a summer anthem that signified a shift in sonic direction and has already generated a steady stream of global tastemaker support.
